Course Load, Term-to-term Persistence, and Stop-outs
The Commission has developed three new Measures of student progression in the Maritime university system: course load, term-to-term persistence, and stop-outs. The purpose of these measures is to characterize student pathways at a more granular level than annual persistence rates, and to assist in the understanding of factors that impact graduation rates and time-to-degree.
The statistics are derived from the MPHEC's longitudinal Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) file which enables the tracking of individuals over time and across Maritime universities.
